U of M vs EMU Open Thread
It appears that Coach Beilein will miss today's contest due to illness:
Head coach John Beilein will miss the game due to "acute peripheral vertigo stemming from an inner ear infection."
Get well soon coach, and GO BLUE!

I think...
That Purdue actually tries to come up with the worst possible cheers… I mean that has to be the only possible explanation for “1, 2, 3, 4… first down” and “boiler up” following a made FT right? Right?!
Overly content...
To sit back and shoot from the outside… a nice backdoor cut would be good to see right about now… and another 3 by Grady kills my point mid sentence!
I believe that was Spencer Tollackson's 465th time using the phrase...
“stereotypical Big 10 team down low”…
I love the BTN, but they could stand to be a tad bit more selective with their analyst “talent” if you ask me.
Cruise control...
The only concerning theme that I think needs to be pointed out is our continual lack of any kind of consistent rebounding presence… this will need to be addressed post-haste heading into the conference schedule.
Loneliness...
I had to sign up and create an account simply so you wouldn’t be posting alone in this thread.
So anyway, I was unable to catch the game earlier. Did Michigan look like they were asleep early or just took a little while to warm up? Obviously the end result was fine, but if we come out like this against a quality squad, we could potentially be out of it before we manage to wake up.
To me...
I think there was a bit of a hangover and a bit of rustiness after a week off and such a big win, they also started ice cold from the floor which didn’t help. The one thing that was concerning about this game was the following:
2nd chance points: EMU 22 UM 7
Rebounds: EMU 44 UM 28
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled with the way the team played yesterday, once they found their shots this game was done, but the rebounding issue is something that has the potential to cost this team down the road.
Was that just this game though?
The impression I’ve got from this team in the admitted short time I’ve been following them is that rebounding just really isn’t their thing.
Also, in reading about Beilein’s coaching style in various articles, I’ve come to believe that rebounding is something he just doesn’t put a whole lot of emphasis on.
True..
You’re right it wasn’t just this game, this is something that’s been pretty consistent with this team thus far this season, I’m not sure that it’s not an emphasis, but rather that we don’t have a real big physical presence on the inside to control the boards… It’ll be interesting to keep an eye on it as the season progresses.
Good win
Started slow, but we beat a team that we should have beaten by 30… by 30.
Get well Coach B, and GO BLUE
