Fixing college football scheduling

Bumped.  I like the concept of a committee making the decision.  You could theoretically have this potential game slotted for game 8 or something (same for every team) and have the committee make their decision on who will play who week 6.  Call it a "flex" game or something.  Probably wouldn't work logistically, but it'd be fun...

The additional of the 12th regular season game has been terrible for the game, as it has resulted in a bunch of typically horrific mismatches for the purposes of extra revenue.

Let's take that game back.  Make everyone schedule a slot for it at well definied times in the season.  And then have an independent committee create matchups at the beginning of the season.  Split up div1 into the top 40, mid40, and bottom 40 using some reasonable preseason ranking.  each team is assigned an opponent to play from its own class.  of course not from their own conference.

many variants on this are possible.  the key point -- cancel all the stupid 12th game mismatches, figure out a way with an independent scheduling committee to create more relevant, exciting, meaningful matches
