Steve Kampfer Has Strained Neck, No Reaggravation of Previous Injury

Massive tip of the cap to George Sipple of the Free Press, who confirmed from Steve Kampfer that he did not suffer any major injury on Saturday from the on ice mugging perpetrated on him by MSU Spartans Andrew Conboy and Corey Tropp.

“I have a strained neck right now,” Kampfer said in a phone interview with the Free Press on Sunday. “I had no relapse of what happened earlier. Hopefully, I’ll be back this weekend.”

To his credit, despite the circumstances, Kampfer continues to say the right things. When asked what he felt the proper punishment for Conboy and Tropp Kampfer replied,

That’s not up for me to decide. I’m biased because it happened to me. It’s up to (CCHA commissioner) Tom Anastos and the refs to decide.

Wow. I don't think I'd have been able to be the gracious. Strike that. I would've sworn vengeance. The type of vengeance that make Cthulhu blush. But, he didn't. And thankfully, Steve's planning on playing this coming weekend for Michigan's critical matchup with No. 1 Notre Dame.

Get better Steve. You're a better person than we are. We'll see you on the ice in South Bend this weekend.

Bonus Link: Head over to MVictors for awesome coverage of the whole Kampfergate including much better video and photo stills than we've been able to find. Great work guys.
