Wednesday Happy Hour Gets Caught Up, Goes Nutts

Maize n Brew gives you your daily (or semi-daily) rundown of all the Michigan Football, Michigan Basketball, College Football, and College Basketball news you need to get through the tedium at your boring ass desk job. For good measure we'll throw in a little irreverent information and commentary to help you salt away the time.  Want it in 140 words or less, follow us on Twitter! Or you can find us on Facebook! Here's what's ON TAP:

Things You Need to Read Right Now

Audio from last night's Eleven Brews Pod Cast with Dr. Saturday and Hawkeye State should be up soon. We're working on it.

Michigan Beer Month/Ann Arbor Beer Week - Obviously we have to link this.

Rodriguez has made it clear the competition for the starting job at quarterback is wide open. As a result, despite a leg fracture that took him out of spring drills Nick Sheridan says he's primed for that competition. Sheridan has even taken to speaking about himself in the third person: "[I'm] focused on making Nick Sheridan the best quarterback he can be." That said, he also awesomely admits that newly arrived Denard Robinson is probably the fastest guy "on campus." Great piece on the somewhat "forgotten quarterback in Michigan's system.

Revisiting Former Michigan Defensive Coordinator Scott Schafer. Markus looks back at the short Michigan life and times of Scott Schafer.

The Quad Countdown: No. 52 U.C.L.A. - Linked specifically for this:

"For constant coverage of U.C.L.A. sports, look no further than BruinsNation.com and, to a lesser degree, the Web site of The Los Angeles Times."

And They Shuddered In Fear At The Foot of the Great Space Emperor. With a title like this, you've gotta link it.

A memo from the desk of Arnold T. Pants, Esq.: Included for awesome photo.

Put simply this is a MUST CLICK for any football fan. The Daily Gopher as a pictorial of Memorial Stadium 1924 - 1992. These photos are amazing.

Gotta send a shout out to Year 2 who is getting married this weekend. Congrats buddy!

Houston Nutt is awesome.

As you would expect, EDSBS has its fun with the Nutt cover.

Michigan Updates Affer the Jump....

Michigan Football

The Doc previews Michigan. He's got us between 6-8 wins.

The Wolverine continues with its position previews, and looks at Michigan's Quarterbacks. Basically it's everything you already know, but it reaffirms it, so, you know, go read it.

U-M TE Kevin Koger thinks he can contribute. Yes plz.

Meet our newest Hero comrades. Stevie Brown. Courtesty the Wolverine Liberation Army.

The Detroit News has more on White picking Michigan. "One morning I woke up and I knew the University of Michigan was for me," Austin White told Sam Webb.

Hello: Austin White. - Brian gives us the lowdown on our newest tailback.

2010 Tailback Austin White chooses Michigan. Michigan State rushes to tell everyone they didn't want him anyway and that they still OWNZORZ in state recruiting. Whatever. White is a great fit for Michigan's backfield and likely closes the book on RB recruiting barring a surprise commit by a higher rated back like Edwardo Clements.

Michigan QB recruit Devin Gardner was selected to participate in this year's Elite 11 camp. Gardner's rocket up the recruiting rankings has been a great plus for Michigan recruitniks, but for the more practically obsessed, his reported work ethic is the biggest benefit of his recruitment. You've gotta love a kid who just wants to keep getting better.

Tom Luginbill of ESPN weighs in on the final Elite 11 roster. Says some nice things about Gardner, but also praises MSU recruit joe Boisture and PSU recruit Robert Bolden. Here's a direct link to the ESPN Elite 11website. At the top right you can find the official press release for the camp.

The Wolverine ranks the best LB units Michigan faces in '09. Gonna be a rough year for the offense facing LB groups like the top four.

TheWolverine.com takes a look at Western Michigan's defense. In our favor? Only four starters return. We should run all over them.

($) From Rivals, ranking the best D-Lines U-M faces in '09.

You've probably heard this already, but Michigan OL Dann O'Neill is transferring to WMU. Happy trails, son. Hope you find whatever it is you're looking for.

Scout's No. 29 CB, Spencer Boyd, will announce his college choice on Friday. Since it's a Notre Dame site reporting this, my guess is he's going there.

More news on another DT, Terry Talbott. Michigan is apparently going hard after Terry Talbot, one of the nations better, uncommitted DTs, but there seems to be confusion as to whether an offer was actually extended. Speaking of DTs, Texas Defensive tackle Jay Guy committed to Cal a while back but intends to take his officials. The Wolverine wouldn't mention it if Michigan wasn't mentioned in the story ($).

Jug Glory, 2008 Minnesota-Michigan highlights.  Last year's win over Minnesota in crystal clear HD.

College Football

The Blue-Gray Sky previews MSU.

Hail to the Orange presents us with three football fans that will soon make your Life a Living Hell - Cosign. Golf clap.

Black Shoe Diaries is drinking the hype laiden Kool-Aid. Despite looking at the lack offensive line experience they remain confident. Trust me guys, this is not good news. Ask Clemson.

The Rivalry takes apart the Wisconsin rushing attack in 2009.

Why doesn't Urban Meyer tell us how he really feels about Notre Dame? Meyer turned back to the golfers and said:

I'm not going to Notre Dame. Ever

Our friends at The Rivalry, Esq., preview the new TCF Bank Stadium, new home of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. An outdoor stadium in Minnesota. Man it's gonna be cold...

It's Not Plagiarism If You Link To It Gets Counterintuitive - More injuries at Iowa. TE Tony Moeaki, the Flyin' Hawaiian, is gimpin' around with foot surgery. When healthy he's the best tight end in the country.

From time to time, it's important to look outside the Big Ten and remind ourselves that there is football being played by other teams in other conferences. The Rivalry, Esq. continues its look at those other conferences with the bastion of the undefeated: the WAC.

Year2 from Team Speed Kills recaps the Senate BCS Hearings.

Michigan Basketball

Scouting new 2010 Michigan Basketball commit Tim Hardaway Jr. Kid is awesome with tremendous upside. Seems to be a perfect fit for Beilein's system and a great kid.

Basketball fans make a beeline to Crisler - Fluff on Beilein.

Thursday Recruiting Bullets - UM Hoops takes a look at Michigan Basketball's recruiting over the last week. Apparently Manny, DeShawn, 2010 commit Evan Smotrycz, and 2010 target Trey Zeigler are blowin' up at the LeBron skizzillz clinics.

Michigan Hockey

Michigan Hockey Net notes that Jeff Rohrkemper was officially added as a Walk-on for the 2009-2010 class. Rohrkemper is the sixth member of the 2009 class and the third preferred walk-on.

The 5′11, 177 pound forward spent the past two seasons with the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL). In 2008-09 he tallied eight goals and 17 assists in 60 games.

The Blog That Yost Built confirms that the Michigan Hockey Jerseys aren't changing.
