An Ice Hockey First: Michigan Scores In OT, Loses Game...
It appears that we're no longer following the all-hallowed tradition of that when you're the first team to score in OT, you usually are rewarded with the W. In a type of symmetry that does nothing but stoke the flames of rage of every Michigan Man, the blown call that took away Michigan's W in OT is also the sole reason the game went to OT in the first place, the non-whistle on Miami's second goal when Hunwick had the puck covered for an astonishing period of time is the antithesis of the inexcusable whistle in OT.... it's just so unbelievable as to be impossible to describe with any sort of rational thought right now. So in that light, we present the Largest Middle Finger Of All Time to the referees of this regional final and to the Miami Clutch-and-Grabs [Ed - after some reflection, it's hard to blame Miami, they didn't blow (or not blow) the whistles].... It's officially official, there is no God. That is all.

well said. . .
i couldn’t understand how the refs called eight penalties in the second period yet none in either overtime. . .they were still whistle happy in overtime though with the quick whistle on the real game winning goal by Michigan. . .another BS play was Miami’s second goal where the puck was frozen under the goalie’s pad and no whistle while the miami player just whacked away. . .absolutely horrendous officiating
As a Spartan fan....
I actually have to say I’m just as perplexed at the weirdness that has been afflicting UofM sports this year. And yes the officiating in the Miami game was a joke. Here’s the thing— is the plan get rid of Rich Rod and Belien? I actually understand laying off Rod even though his actions are really NOT what you’d expect of a Michigan coach. His recruiting class looks bananas and he’ll probably have a bounce back year. But on the hardwood, yeesh. I mean Belien has to go right?
I ask only because I’ve suffered through numerous seasons of madness as an MSU fan. Heck we had some fun football arrests so there’s that.
I think both stay
at least one more year. Rich Rod has the hotter seat right now because the football program is expected to be better. Beilein will probably get two more years because (a) the NCAA tourney bid bought him time, and (b) next year will be the first year fully into the “Beilein ball” system. Harris and Sims were not the types of guys Beilein has had at his other stops, so his offense was modified somewhat. Next year will probably be rough after losing arguably two of the best players since the Fab Five ruled Crisler.

Beilein isn't going anywhere (neither is Rodriguez, but we've covered that pretty thoroughly)
First NCAA appearance in 10 years will certainly sustain him through a season such as this, plus I think it’d be a real disservice to get rid of him after just three years. The guy’s track record, while nowhere near Izzo’s, is certainly solid enough to give him the full opportunity to establish his system here if you ask me.
