DJ Shoemate transfers to UConn, Will Play Against Michigan in 2010 Football Opener
Bumped for obvious opponent related reasons.... - Ed
Michigan has another dangerous weapon to prepare for prior to the September 4 match up against UConn.

USC's fullback DJ Shoemate will transfer to Connecticut and join the Huskies roster for the game against Michigan in Ann Arbor. Shoemate was actually recruited by Pete Carroll as a wide receiver, but he played tailback at Orange County football powerhouse Servite High School (Anaheim, CA). Shoemate is 6-1, 205 lbs and blazing fast (4.5 sec 40 time). He should be an outstanding complement to the Huskies' already bruising rushing attack which includes scatback tailback and 1,000 yard rusher, Jordan Todman (5-10, 180 lbs).

Here's betting that if he hadn't transferred from USC, nobody would give this three seconds of thought
2 carries in his career for 2 yards… Batten down the hatches boys!!! To be fair, he did in fact catch a pass for a TD….
I suppose if nothing else it gives the team one more reason to be completely focused on September 4th.

Exactly
The 8th best RB from an 8-4 team that averaged 3.67 yards per carry against Notre Dame. I didn’t know this was possible; Notre Dame’s opponents averaged 4.75 ypc on the year, and the best team they played was who? Pitt?
Wow. Everyone get scared.

We should be more worried about their veteran QB. He put up some nice numbers last year and led UConn as they finished the season with 4 straight victories and a bowl win. The defense will need to get a few turnovers.
Totally agree, but here's why this guy matters...
It’s not because he’s a USC transfer, it’s because he’s a US Army All-American. He’s a good player that give UConn more depth and speed at tailback, thus making their offense more dangerous. Stepping onto the field he’s UConn’s highest rated recruit, and the type of guy Michigan fans would expect to be a game changer if he was suiting up for us.
But Steeler_Rich is right, if we can’t get to Frazer, it’s all academic. Frazer’s the key to the game and if we can rattle him it’s going to shift the balance of the game in our favor.

It's still U COnn
our run defense wasn’t our biggest weakness last year..it was pass defense. Who cares about a running back. You know how they always hype the team that USC, Texas, or Florida plays every week so that you tune in to watch the blow out? That’s all this is. It’s a team that had more turnovers than we did against worse competition. And if this qb is so good…why did they have twice as many rushing tds (30) to passing td’s (16). Against te likes of Baylor, Ohio, Rhode Island, Louisville, Rutgers, S. Fla, and a Notre Dame team that was better in people.s minds than on the field.
