NY Times Contirbutor Paul Myerberg Ranks Michigan Football No. 37 for the 2010 Season

It's actually kind of amazing. Over the last month or so I've seen a lot of people start to look at Michigan in a "Hey! Maybe that ship isn't going to sink after all!" kind of way. Paul Myerberg, you may remember, writes from time to time for the New York Times' Quad blog and was generous enough to give this blog its first link to the New York Times. Something that I immediately rubbed in the face of my hippie, intelligensia parents. "HA HA! You may be doctors but I'm the one getting print in the Times! Eat it, hippies! HAHAHAHAHA!"

ahem...... moving on.

Anyway, Myerberg, along with Rivals' Tom Dienhardt, seems down right optimistic compared to some of the early prognostications from the preview magazines. Myerberg sees all the problems with the offense (no deep threat, inconsistent QB play) but also thinks this could be one of the highest scoring offenses in the Big Ten. On the flip side, he's downright petrified of what's going to happen at Linebacker and Corner. In the end, he's got Michigan in that 8 win territory provided the offense improves as expected and someone (re: anyone) steps up on defense in the secondary.

Myerberg's Preview is a GREAT read. Highly recommended. Also make sure to check out his site, Pre-Snap Read for the rest of his breakdowns. I've found them to be some of the best out there. FYI, he's buying the Purdue as a dark horse thing, getting them at least to bowl eligibility. Interesting.

(FYI: if this is a FP you like, hit the rec button and it'll keep it at the top of the FP's).
