Despite warnings from the NFLPA, there are players on the Eagles who are financially ill-equipped for the looming lockout. Brandon Graham is not one of those people. Thanks to a first-round contract that reportedly guarantees him $14 million, as well as the guidance of a trustworthy management team, the former Michigan Wolverine is set up for long-term wealth despite short-term hurdles.
This makes him attractive to the needy and the greedy seeking some liquid – including his own teammates. By Graham’s count, at least two fellow Eagles have asked him for substantial loans to get them through the lockout.
The most he’s gotten hit up for?
"100K," said Graham.
"They try not to make it awkward. They’ll come to you like they’re joking, but they’re serious. They’re trying to feel you out, to see what you’ll say."
Graham always has the same reply: No.
Brandon Graham will not tolerate your financial stupidity. Great to see the Michigan Man doing what's right for his family The Philadelphia Sports Journal knocks this story on the potential NFL lock-out out of the park.

According to USAToday, the lowest average salary is 1.4 million for players on the Kansas City Chiefs, I will never understand how any of these guys (pro athletes in general) are hurting for money. I know why they will be hurting for money and not be able to make it through the lock-out.. I just do not understand it.
amen
How anyone can blow through that amount of money while families of 4 subsist on 40K or less is one of life’s truly shocking puzzles.

i can tell you why, though you may still not understand
its really a lifestyle thing. ask anyone with alot of money if they could live like the average person, and they will give you an adamant no. once you start living a certain lifestyle its hard to force yourself to take a step down, so if these guys are used to spending a million a year they will find it hard to stop doing that suddenly.
also, some of them are probably idiots, but alot of them its just the lifestyle thing

If you ask yourself
what’s the first thing NFL athletes do once they have their contract?
Man, that’s easy.
They go out and buy a huge freaking car (SUV with bling rims), a Hummer or a Lambourghini Countach.
The second they drive that baby off the lot, they literally have no clue how much money they’ve lost in depreciation, gas, insurance, maintanence, etc. And on it goes.
That’s before we get to the question of what their “crib” looks like or how high-maintenance the new girlfriend is.
While it is amazing how fast the money disappears for these high paid athletes, I am not surprised at all about the how.
Oh, and don’t forget about incomes taxes. Some of these players spend away as if ALL of the money stated in their contractual earnings is tax free. “Noitain’t!”
Go Blue!
