Darryl Stonum Pleads Guilty To DUI, Future With Michigan Football Remains Unclear
Sigh...
According to Ann Arbor dot Com, Michigan Wide Receiver Darryl Stonum pled guilty this morning to driving while visibly impaired on May 6th. Sadly, this was Stonum's second alcohol related driving offense since arrivng on campus and the receiver could face up to a year in prison if the sentencing judge decides so. Also according to Ann Arbor dot Com, Stonum reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that calls for a charge of driving with a suspended license to be dismissed.
This isn't good news regarding Stonum's return to the team. Already suspended from the team, Hoke has said that Stonum must "fulfill all his commitments he has to the legal system and our program" before being considered for reinstatement. With some jail time likely looking him in the face, I think it's doubtful we'll see Stonum on the field this season. Fortunately, Stonum does hae a redshirt season still available to him, so there is the prospect of Darryl using his redshirt year to get his life in order and coming back as a redshirt senior.
But your guess is as good as mine.

Stupid, stupid stupid
This totally sucks. I hope he gets his act together. What a waste of talent if he doesn’t.
totally agree
I really hope Hoke gives him the year off to get his act in gear and stresses how important it is that he does. Not just for football but for his own future as an adult when football is done.

That's a bummer for Stonum,
I’m still under the impression that we’re stacked at WR, though.
NO HOMO!!!!!!!
It's not Midland county
still a misdemeanor. $1,500.00 fine some probation and community service work.
it's not that you are stupid, it's just that you don't suspect!
Nothing is good nor bad until compared to something else.
Even for a second offense?
I thought this was baaaad news. I thought b/c he was a repeat offender jail time was on the table.
