Maryland Regents Approve Move to Big Ten

A Maryland colored tie at the B1G meetings. Coincidence? I think not. - Reid Compton-US PRESSWIRE

Wheels are spinning, yo.

Well, this thing seems to be moving well past the point of anyone stopping it. Maryland's Board of Regents has approved the move to the Big Ten (unanimously, of course).

The Big Ten network is set to show the press conference at 2:30ET where Maryland announces the move.

As of now a timetable for this thing hasn't been set. Furthermore, there is little mention of the buyout that the ACC will surely be enforcing on the Terps for walking out on the conference shortly after the number was set at 50 million. Details are still sketchy outside of one certainty: "Big Ten" now makes even less sense.

No word yet on Rutgers.

There have been reports that this could be a finacial boon to the conference to the tune of a couple hundred million dollars. Still, in terms of prestige, this is hardly the kind of move that turns heads in anything but the "whaaa?" way.

More to come.
