Who is Michigan still pursuing to finish off the 2013 class? What's the latest on the 2014 class? That and more.
2013 Continues to Change
Interior offensive lineman David Dawson has recommitted to the Wolverines, and he's being joined by teammate safety Delano Hill. Getting Dawson back on board was crucial, as is adding an athletic safety like Delano Hill. Some of the Cass Tech coaches believe that Hill is the best athlete on a team that includes Jourdan Lewis and Damon Webb. Make sure to check out DGDestroys' New Blue piece on Hill.
Michigan is now in pursuit of a sixth offensive lineman, a linebacker (preferably a SAM), another defensive back, Laquon Treadwell and Derrick Green. This class will end with anywhere from 26-28 commitments. The rundown:
Offensive lineman: Michigan is going after Cameron Hunt, Kenny Lacy, Dan Samuelson and Dan Skipper. All of them are committed elsewhere, but Skipper visited this past weekend and Hunt would have as well if he didn't have a game to play. If I had to guess I'd say that Michigan will end up landing one of Hunt or Skipper, giving them the sixth offensive lineman that they're looking for.
Linebacker: The priority here seems to be Wisconsin commitment Marcus Ball. Wisconsin's defensive coordinator is mulling over an offer to join the staff at Arkansas, and if he accepts it should boost the Wolverines' chances of flipping Ball.
Defensive back: Two names to keep an eye on at corner are Illinois commitment Reon Dawson and NC State commitment Chris Holmes. Both have offers, so we'll see if Michigan can flip either of them. Virginia commit safety Tim Harris is also a name to keep in mind.
Laquon Treadwell: He recently released a top three of Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, leaving Michigan in the dark. He still plans on visiting Ann Arbor officially so don't jump off of a bridge just yet.
Derrick Green: Even Rivals Mike is convinced that Michigan is in the driver's seat for Green, which means that Michigan is definitely in the driver's seat. Derrick and David Dawson text daily and want to play together, so regaining Dawson's commitment could pay extra dividends.
There will almost certainly be new offers out to players that we're unfamiliar with. The staff is doing its very best to identify players they believe can fill roles, even if those players are committed elsewhere.
General Notes and Multimedia Stuffs
Michigan is still pursuing 2014 DL Craig Evans despite his commitment to Wisconsin. Tremendous caught up with him. They also managed to speak to potential five-star DB Nick Watkins.
Tremendous also talked to Deveon Smith about the possibility of playing next to Derrick Green. That would be one deadly duo.
