MRR updates you on the latest Michigan football recruiting rumblings. How will Michigan finish off the 2013 class? What's the latest on the class of 2014? That and more.
The 2013 Picture
. . is mostly the same as it was a week ago. Michigan is still in pursuit of a sixth offensive lineman, and they've now offered another offensive tackle prospect in Philadelphia product Jaryd Jones-Smith. He already held offers from NC State, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin, among others.
Illinois commit CB Reon Dawson will be visiting Michigan in January. I've read reports of his unwillingness to flip, but this is recruiting so what the hell do I know.
Rumors surfaced that running back Derrick Green was down to Michigan and Tennessee, but he has since come out and said that isn't the case. Michigan is still the frontrunner here.
If you thought Michigan was still in the picture for WR Eldridge Massington you were wrong, as he just committed to UCLA. Death to USC.
New Offers
Michigan has extended offers to 2014 OL Sam Mustipher and 2015 WR George Campbell. Mustipher goes to Good Counsel in Maryland, a powerhouse that has produced players like Blake Countess, Stefon Diggs and others. Campbell is a product of Tarpon Springs, Florida, which also happens to be the home of 2014 four-stars WR Artavis Scott and OL Mason Cole. Michigan is in good position with both Scott and Cole, and it would be fantastic if that helped the Wolverines' chances with the potential five-star Campbell.
General Notes and Multimedia Stuffs
Safety Leon McQuay III is closing in on a decision. He and his father talked with Sam Webb of the Detroit News. His father had this to say about the Wolverines:
"I wouldn't be surprised if he chose Michigan," his father said. "The defensive coordinator basically sat us down and walked us through how he is going to be used. If that actually holds true, he is going to be lining up in different spots. He is expected to make plays. He has been labeled a playmaker. That's a lot of expectations, but Mattison has been doing it for a while so I'm pretty sure he can look at somebody and tell exactly what he is going to get out of them."
Michigan is in play with Florida State, Southern California and Vanderbilt.
2014 DE Malik McDowell received an offer from Mississippi State. He'll have offers from the majority of the SEC when all is said and done. Tremendous caught up with him recently to talk about where he's at in his recruitment.
Tremendous also spoke with 2014 DT Bryan Mone, who happens to be blowing up on the recruiting circuit. It would be huge for Michigan to pick up Mone.
2013 OL commitment Kyle Bosch has been named to the USA Today All-American Second Team (click the link to see the picture he posted on Twitter).
2014 Detroit Country Day WR Maurice Ways now has some solid junior film out;
As does 2014 Cass Tech LB Gary Hosey:
And the same goes for RB Jalen Hurd:
You can also see 2014 QB target Drew Doxtator's film on Hudl.
