Monday Recruiting Roundup Is An All-American Roundup

Dave Reginek

MRR updates you on the latest Michigan football recruiting rumblings. What's the latest on 2013 stars Derrick Green and Leon Mcquay? What should UM fans watch for in the All-American games? That and more.

All-American Games Approaching

It's easy to get lost in all of the AA hype that comes with the New Year if you follow recruiting. Fear not, as I've assembled a nice guide to all of the games:

* marks undecided player to keep an eye on

Army All-American Game: The "grandaddy of them all" when it comes to AA games. The Army game will be played on January 5th at 1pm in the San Antonio Alamodome. It airs on NBC.

East Team:

TE Jake Butt
RB Derrick Green*
S Dymonte Thomas

West Team:

OL Chris Fox
CB Jourdan Lewis

Under Armour All-American Game: The UA game will be played in St. Petersburg, Florida, on January 4th at 5pm. It will air on ESPN.

Black Team (Team Highlight):

S Leon McQuay III* (Will make his college decision during game)

White Team (Team Nitro):

LB Mike McCray II (Injured arm, will not play)
QB Shane Morris
DT Henry Poggi
OG Patrick Kugler
OT Logan Tuley-Tillman

It's also worth noting that the high school coach of De La Salle Paul Verska will be on hand coaching the defensive line for Team Nitro. Also note that the names for the two teams give Jim Delany a reverse boner.

A couple of interesting photos from the early activities in Florida:

Nice haircut, LTT.

Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl: Sponsored by the Marines, the Semper Fi Bowl will be played in Carson, California, at 6 pm (PST) on January 4th.

East Team:

DT Maurice Hurst
CB Ross Douglas

West Team:

OT Kyle Bosch

This game actually has a decent amount of talent considering it's the third choice for the best players in the country.

You'll Read This Because I Mention Derrick Green and Leon McQuay

Michigan will most likely land the former and miss on the latter. Rivals Mike comments on the status of Derrick Green in this video:

None of those schools can match Michigan's combination of play style, academics and relationships. Michigan may have secured Green when it regained the commitment of David Dawson. Derrick tweeted that he ran a forty-yard dash of 4.35 seconds at a weight of 218 pounds.

Leon McQuay's recruitment is a different story. He wants to enroll early and has only been admitted by Florida State so far, meaning that Michigan needs to hurry up and let him in by January 4th when he plans to announce his decision at the Under Armour game. I expect him to sign with one of Florida State or Vanderbilt.

General Notes and Multimedia Stuffs

Michigan is holding bowl practices in Florida and a few recruits from the state have taken that time to see them pop pads, including 2014 OL Mason Cole, 2014 LB Vincent Jackson, 2014 WR Corey Holmes and 2015 WR George Campbell.

Tremendous gives us all an update on the aforementioned Corey Holmes. His season highlights:

Tremendous also spoke with Vincent Jackson, who had a chance to snap a picture with Denard Robinson and Vincent Smith:

Finally, make sure to check out DGDestroys' piece on the skill position players in Michigan's 2013 class. He isn't too fond of the staff's recruiting haul at the receiver spot.
