Michigan vs. Ohio State Game Thread

Ohio St. Buckeyes at Michigan Wolverines, Feb 18, 2012 8:00 PM CST

Do you like regular season conference titles?

Then you better cheer hard tonight. Michigan's only path to a share of the Big Ten title runs through the number six in the nation Buckeyes from Columbus. A lot will have to happen to get Michigan a share of the Big Ten title, but it will be all for naught if the Wolverines lose this one.

Oh yeah, and on top of that this will keep Michigan's record perfect for the year at home. And College Gameday is there. And it is the prime time ESPN game. So yeah, it's kind of a big deal.

Star-divide

The teams have already met once this season in Columbus, with the Buckeyes coming out on the winning end 64-49 --- a score that was a bit lopsided thanks to a late Ohio State run. Make no mistake about it, Ohio State controlled the game most of the way by rebounding 42 percent of their missed shots and holding the Wolverine offense to just .85 points per possession.

For more info on the game check out Alex's breakdown and Dave's list of 20 things to look for during the game. We will be around for the next couple hours, and active during the game, so won't you join us for the biggest game of the season --- and as Alex said, arguably the last decade?

Why didn’t Crisler ever look and feel like that when I was there?

Need to get the offense going again. Too much isolation. Can’t get good shots like that and can’t score if you aren’t getting any offensive boards after said bad shots.

huge first half.

keep sullinger from teeing off, keep burke and hardaway effective, and we’ll win this thing.

Not a tough order or anything lol.

agreed

gotta start rebounding better on the defensive end. OSU isn;t going to keep missing all these second-chance opportunities.

I agree, but it's tough to expect guys like sullinger and thomas to get shut down

they’re an awful lot bigger on the glass. But if guys like Novak and Morgan play good technical ball down low, maybe we can limit them enough.

Who would have thought Deshaun Thomas would have almost 2/3rds of OSU’s points this late in the second quarter? Crazy game so far. Hope UM can keep up the solid D on Sullinger.

If Thomas is OSU's dangerous player, OSU loses a lot of games.

So hey, we’ll take it. Amirite?

we just can't seem to push the lead past that 7-9 point barrier

meaning they remain just close enough to terrify me.

I'd assume it's because they're over keying in on Sullinger.

I hope that’s why at least.

Yeah, in part. There seems to be a weak point in Michigan’s defense when it comes to athletic wing players. Offensive rebounds all over the place

I've been up since 5:30, I've stood outside for five hours, and I've spent 14 hours in and around Crisler today.

It was all totally worth it. What a win.

(My seats were four rows above the floor on the baseline above the Michigan bench. Trey’s layup was right in front of me, and it was totally beautiful.)
