Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign former Michigan lineman Patrick Omameh

USA TODAY Sports

The Buccaneers stole a former Michigan player the 49ers were hiding on their practice squad.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former Michigan offensive lineman Patrick Omameh off the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad Friday. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh spent extra time scouting Omameh prior to the NFL draft, and he was even able to stash the Columbus, Oh. native on the team’s practice squad through five weeks of the NFL season. Omameh was two-time Academic All-Big Ten at Michigan and started 41 consecutive games at right guard while in Ann Arbor.
