Commitment Tracker (11/05): Commitments rise and fall as playoffs begin

Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE

Most of Michigan's football commitments are in or near the playoffs, with many of them playing to extend their high school careers for one more game. Who's rising under the pressure?

2014 Commitments

Ian Bunting (Hinsdale Central, IL) -Hinsdale fell in the opening round of the Illinois playoffs. Bunting played well, catching a 50-yard strike among others, but it wasn't enough in the end.

Juwan Bushell-Beatty (Paramus Catholic, NJ) - Paramus trounced Friendship by a score of 41-14 and is now 6-2 heading into the final week of their regular season.

Freddy Canteen (Eastern Christian Academy, MD) -ECA lost to St. Edward by a score of 41-40.

Mason Cole (East Lake HS, FL) - East Lake remained undefeated by beating Northeast by 43 points.

Michael Ferns (St. Clairsville, OH) - St. C won easily to move to 9-1 and secure home field advantage in the playoffs. Ferns will sit through the playoffs with a lingering shoulder injury.

Noah Furbush (Kenton, OH) - Kenton beat Defiance by 54 points and is now 10-0.

Drake Harris (Grand Rapids Christian, MI) - GRC barely won in the first round of the state playoffs despite not having Harris.

Lawrence Marshall (Southfield, MI) - Southfield lost to Seaholm High School in a close game and is now eliminated from the playoffs.

Chase Winovich (Thomas Jefferson, PA) -TJ beat Hampton 49-0 and is scorching hot, having given up a mere 6 points in its last 4 games. Winovich scored a TD in the game. The Jaguars haven't been tested all season.

2015 Commitments

George Campbell (East Lake HS, FL) - East Lake remained undefeated by beating Northeast by 43 points. The defense was dominant, again in large part due to Campbell efforts.

Shaun Crawford (St. Edward, OH) - St. Edward beat ECA, which is home to two other Michigan commitments, moving to 8-1 on the season.

Andrew David (Washington, OH) - Washington won by 27, moving to 8-2 on the year heading into the Ohio state playoffs.

Damien Harris (Madison Southern, KY) - Madison Southern took the week off and will play Letcher County Central in the opening round of the Kentucky playoffs. He will surely run for mega yardage.

Tyree Kinnel (Wayne, OH) - Wayne beat Northmont and is now 9-1 heading into the Ohio playoffs.

Jon Runyan Jr. (St. Joseph's Prep, PA) -St. Joe's beat Roman Catholic (yes, Roman Catholic) and is now 7-2.

Gold Star to Put on Momma's Refrigerator Award

Statistics were tough to come by this week, making this award harder to give out. It goes to QB Wilton Speight after the young man led his Collegiate squad to another win, throwing and running for multiple touchdowns.

Numbers will surely be easier to come by next week when these teams are all receiving heavier coverage in the playoffs.
