What they're saying about Burke-to-Utah

USA TODAY Sports

What the trade means for Burke and Utah.

Things are moving quickly tonight in the draft, but let's take a second to see what people are saying about Burke getting moved to Utah for the 14th and 21st pick.

Over at the mothership, Scott Schroeder provides some context for the move:

The Jazz could undergo a huge overhaul, as the majority of their starters will enter free agency next week. Burke will join a young nucleus that already includes former first-round picks at each of the other four positions on the floor.

Given the lack of certainty at point guard for the Jazz, this bit from SB Nation makes sense:

Burke isn't the most explosive athlete at the point guard position, but he can shoot the ball and run an offense. He doesn't need significant development, either, making him an intriguing prospect for teams in need of immediate help in the backcourt. At 6'1, he's a tad undersized, which only magnifies his lack of elite athleticism, but the Jazz must feel he's a player to build around for years to come.

The Jazz need someone who can step in and contribute in a big way right now. That isn't something they would be able to get from a Michael Carter-Williams. This move seems to be a solid one as the younger players on the roster step up.

With the 14th pick, Minnesota ended up with Shabazz Muhammad, so that is something to consider.

My take (for what it's worth): Seems like a good move for Burke. He will have some young talent around him, and he will be heavily leaned on without having to fight for time. There could be struggles early for Utah, but if the Jazz win soon, a lot of that will be because of Burke.

Besides, we all know how consistently Burke has won pretty much everywhere he has been.

Now, we wait for THJ to come off the board.
