There Are Jordan Kovacs Days to Michigan Football

Gregory Shamus

Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

He may have switched numbers halfway through his senior season, but Jordan Kovacs will always be #32, destroying quarterbacks and protecting the grass of Michigan Stadium. There was never any one play that distinguished Kovacs's Michigan career, he was just always there in the middle of every play or leading team on the sideline. Twelfth in tackles all-time, and now using his talents on South Beach, Kovacs became the guided missile of Michigan's secondary, striking fear into any quarterback who hung around the pocket too long, as Western Michigan's Alex Carder discovered.
