Five-Star Visiting This Weekend
As Steve Lorenz from 247Sports reported this morning (FREE), 2015 five-star linebacker Justin Hilliard is planning to visit this weekend. For those who are aware of Hilliard's game and rankings, this is a big deal for Michigan. He is arguably one the best linebackers in his class and is an instant upgrade to whomever he ends up choosing. Hilliard keeps his recruiting process under wraps so it is difficult to get information out of him.
I spoke with Hilliard (FREE) with another website, his answers were short so it is difficult to decipher where his head is at. However, the interest between the coaches and Hilliard is real. It is wildly speculated that Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Iowa and Oklahoma are in his top group, Michigan is in great shape. Iowa may be the dark horsein this race due to his brother, running back C.J. Hilliard, playing for the Hawkeyes. Needless to say, it is crucial to get him up to campus for a visit.
Below is a highlight tape from Hilliard, it is pretty impressive.
Michigan Offers Quarterman
Michigan offered 2016 linebacker Shaquille Quarterman on Tuesday. Quarterman who is currently unranked, but I see him as potential four-star territory. Quarterman spoke with 247Sports' Clint Brewster about his recent offer from the Wolverines ($).
"I’d like to learn more about Michigan but I’m interested. I’d like to try and visit this summer. I’ve heard Michigan has the best fan base so it’s exciting to get that offer."
The young linebacker boasts eight scholarship offers already. Auburn, who offered early in the process, might look like the team to beat here. In recruiting, there isn't any guarantees so that could change in a heartbeat.
Below, you can find a highlight tape from Quarterman.
Johnson Has Michigan Official Visit In Mind
Alabama's 247Sports' affiliate recently spoke with ($) 2015 four-star wide receiver Juwan Johnson after receiving an offer from Alabama earlier in the week. Johnson named Michigan in his top five schools despite being not currently having an offer from Michigan (there are conflicting reports whether he actually holds a Michigan offer or not).
However, Johnson mentions three places where he would like to take his allotted three official visits.
"It's been very hectic. I'm going to visit the local schools and when the officials come, I'll be going out to Alabama and stuff like that. I'm going to take my official visits- definitely Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State. Those are the three that I'm set on right now."
Those could change in a day from a recruiting standpoint. But it appears that Michigan has a very good shot at landing the talented receiver. Just how good is that shot? Once this offer mess gets ironed out, we might be able to see a little more clearly how high this interest in. If he doesn't hold an offer, then naming Michigan as a place he wants to visit is very encouraging news.
