The news broke Friday that redshirt junior cornerback Blake Countess will wear the no. 2 jersey this season.
Countess confirmed the news on his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Saturday with a first look of him wearing the iconic jersey at Michigan.
Has been a goal of mine since I committed. I finally get to make this a reality! It truly is an honor… http://t.co/qt0KG41iQ5

Countess is the first cornerback back since Charles Woodson to wear the jersey number. He finished 2013 tied for first in the Big Ten, and seventh in the entire FBS, in interceptions with six. Although former running back Vincent Smith wore the jersey number, Michigan coach Brady Hoke has said in the past that someone will have to earn the number in the future.
As of now, no plans are being made by Michigan to commemorate Woodson or the jersey being put back in to circulation.
