Report: Michigan to Begin Search for Permanent AD to Replace Jim Hackett

7

Michigan may begin its search to hire a permanent athletic director to replace interim athletic director Jim Hackett as soon as this week, according to a report by the Detroit Free Press' David Jesse and Mark Snyder.

Hackett has been the interim athletic director since October 31, 2014, and was instrumental in hiring Jim Harbaugh as Michigan's new football coach and guiding the transition from adidas to Nike. Though Hackett has been praised by many for his work in the past year, he has stated publicly that he didn't want to be the permanent athletic director.

There are no reported candidates at this time.
