Ex-Michigan Commit Tyus Battle Opens Up on His Reopened Recruitment

4

On June 19, 2015, five-star guard Tyus Battle, who is ranked No. 19 overall in the 2016 class according to the 247 Composite, decommitted from Michigan. It was a blow to Michigan's 2016 class because John Beilein wants only one elite wing in this class and ceased recruiting all other options once Battle joined the fold. Since then, fellow five-star wing Josh Langford, who was a former Michigan target, has committed to Michigan State.

Therefore, one of the questions Michigan fans have been asking is whether Battle will rejoin the Wolverines' class down the road. Battle stated to Scout.com's Evan Daniels, "I still really like Michigan a lot. I'm just looking at other schools and other options." So why did Battle decommit? "My whole family just wanted to look at other schools and other options," he explained.

What does this mean? It seems like Tyus is higher on Michigan than his parents, and his parents want him to play elsewhere. This is not information I have gleaned from sources but just from reading between the lines. Will Battle recommit to Michigan? We will see, but, unless his parents have a change of heart, it does not look promising.
