The M Den and Nike allowed a few media members, including Nick Baumgardner of MLive, to view a few items and snag a few secrets before the Nike apparel drops in Ann Arbor on August 1.
On August 1st, Michigan will officially be sponsored by Nike. The contract with Adidas will expire on July 31st. The contract with Nike will last 15 years and is worth $173.8 million.
All Michigan football gear will have the Jordan Jumpman, but no swooshes. Other sports will have the swoosh, Jumpman or both. The color known as “Maize” is now being called “Amarillo” by Nike, so Michigan could now be referred to as Amarillo and Blue.

By going to the Jumpman, other than the Nike swoosh, Michigan football get a nice recruiting boost. Believe it or not, Michigan will be the only football program in the country to offer the Jumpman logo on football gear. The basketball program, both men and women, will get Jordan gear for the 2016-17 season.
Nike will be sending out an “Air Jordan Trainer 1” Michigan-themed shoe on August 2. Michigan’s basketball jerseys will not be for sale on August 1, but will be made available later in the fall.
The M Den will have a Nike event that starts on July 31st and will lead into the midnight opening of a new M Den store on the Michigan campus. All other M Den stores will open at 10:00 A.M. on August 1st.
