The Big Ten will announce its own punishment for Penn State for massive failings during the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal at the school. University of Iowa president Sally Mason, the chair of the Big Ten's Council of Presidents/Chancellors, will discuss the penalties along with league commissioner Jim Delany at 11 a.m. ET. Big Ten presidents and chancellors announced their own investigation into the problems at Penn State back in December.

As if this day isn't bad enough for Penn State fans, the Big Ten is set to impose its own penalties on PSUat 11am. Buckle up.

Two sources with knowledge of the Penn State penalties said NCAA president Mark Emmert will announce Monday that he is personally sanctioning Penn State after receiving approval from the association’s Division I Board of directors, which is comprised of 22 college presidents and chancellors. One source told Yahoo! Sports Emmert’s sanctions will include a "multiple-year" bowl ban and "crippling" scholarship losses.

It's actually quite funny, and it shows what the OSU fanbase has grown accustomed to in the last several years. I humbly submit my own suggestion for Buckeye fans: Get used to it.

Big Ten/Pac-12 Scheduling Agreement Canceled

+

Via Dr. Saturday, it seems the Pac-12 has backed out of the agreement slated to begin in 2017 due to concerns from some of its member schools. Totally okay with this. We'll see if this means Michigan won't have to travel to Utah one of these days - though given the athletic department's seeming Utah fetish, it's certainly not out of the question.

What ESPN Could Learn From ESPN: Euro 2012 Lessons For College Football

+

"Tempering my enthusiasm at the end of Euro 2012 is the feeling that I wish that ABC/ESPN took the same approach to college football that it takes to major soccer tournaments. Compare my description of the start of a Euro match with the start to a normal college football game on ESPN. Whereas ESPN starts off Euro matches in the studio with a discussion of the lineup choices made by the managers, they start off college football games with Mark May and Lou Holtz getting into contrived fights or Jesse Palmer looking pretty. Whereas ESPN includes the pre-match pomp and circumstance when covering Euro matches, they ignore it almost entirely in college football. Instead, the approach is for the play-by-play and color guys to drum through the story lines for the game - story lines that they will stick to regardless of how the game actually plays out - and then maybe the viewer gets a five-second shot of Michigan players touching the banner or Clemson players rubbing Howard's Rock. Whereas ESPN shows the starting lineups for both teams in formation at the outset of each Euro match, they cannot be bothered to even list the starting lineups for college football teams anymore, instead showing only the "Impact Players," as if every word coming out of Matt Millen's mouth is so critical that he does not have time to list 44 starters."

If you read the Freeh report and want to comment, feel free to do it here. However, keep it classy, MnB. Anything out of line will be removed. Use this opportunity to better understand the situation and support the Penn State community through a difficult time.
