Michigan added its 14th commitment of the 2016 cycle and continued the recent momentum on the trail when the received a pledge from quarterback Victor Viramontes (Norco, California).
Viramontes, 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, is a three-star prospect and the 48th-ranked athlete in the 2016 class, per the 247 Composite.
His commitment gives Michigan another versatile talent who is a hard worker and fits the mold of what Jim Harbaugh is looking to add to the roster. He has played safety in high school and also looks like he could play linebacker at the next level, as well.
As a quarterback, he has a great arm and has the ability to make most of the throws, albeit with shaky mechanics. As a duel-threat, he has the ability to make plays with his feet and move the pocket around. Something else that stands out about Viramontes is how he is willing to throw his body around to make plays. Instead of scrambling and running out of bounds, this is a guy that puts his shoulder down and fights for the extra yard.
It is those set of traits that make him, and I hate to use this term, "Tebow-esque" in terms of the attitude he brings to the field. We will see where he ultimately sticks when he gets to Michigan.
