Michigan drank the sweet nectar of non-conference victory yesterday, defeating Butler 78-74 in Crisler Arena. In typical UM fashion, the Wolverines relied on more late-game heroics from Daniel Horton to secure a home victory against a mediocre team. Is it heartening that the '05-'06 Wolverines found a way to win a game it could have lost (and might have lost in the past) or is it discouraging that UM was trailing in the second half and didn't seize its final lead of the game until there were just 49 seconds left? We won't have to wait long to find some part of the answer: Michigan hosts realistic-aspirations-of-relevance-having Miami (FL) on Tuesday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Miami has lost at Air Force, but year after year, it becomes more and more apparent that the real upsets come when the home team loses.
