Stuff You Should Read Right Now
EDSBS and Spencer Hall are joining SB Nation. You read that right. Spencer/Orson is movin' on up to join us here at SBNation. Personally and professionally, this is a big deal. Spencer's become an internet friend and I consider EDSBS to be the absolute funniest and most relevant College Football site on the internet. And yes, I'm including ESPN, Fox, et al. in that assessment. So head over there and welcome him to the SB Nation family.
Just as a word of warning Spencer, Hawkeye State tends to get a little "grabby" after a few drinks at the company picnic. I just sayin... it can get a little uncomfortable...
When Carcajous Attack asks a legitimate question: When did Michigan lose its mental edge on defense? Hell if I know. But over the last five years, there's been a noticeable drop in intensity. Hopefully GERG can fix this.
The Rivalry, Esq., previews the ACC. I love this stuff. Keep it coming guys.
What Kind of Notre Dame Fan Are You? - "How do you compare to the rest of the Notre Dame fan base in your outlook for the 2009 season? Answer this brief quiz to find out." - I am sooooooooooo stealing this.

Playing the waiting game with J.T. Turner, Adrian Witty - Still no word on their clearinghouse issues.
Mgoblog begins your tour of the interwebz Fall Practice First Day wrap ups with more detail than anyone should reasonably be able to digest. New lockers = Sweet. New chairs? Notsomuch. The photos detailing the weight loss of Will Campbell since the Army All American game are stunning, BTW.
Some more good news out of practice, Kelvin Grady apparently made highlight reel catch during the first day of practice. Man I hope he's able to contribute. He just seems like a good kid.
Apparently there's a 3-way quarterback competition as of the first day of practice. Meh. Everything I've heard says Tate Forcier and Nick Sheridan are competing, with Forcier well in the lead in just about every category. Denard Robinson sounds like he's got a lot of work to do on his mechanics and footwork. That said, he's also getting his first instructions from the coaches since reaching campus. We'll keep an eye on everything, but we won't have a clue how this will all shake out until the end of the second week of practice.
One more first day wrap up from the Detroit News.
The red jerseys are off. Rodriguez announced that Michigan quarterbacks will be live in practice starting on Friday. secure the ball guys. You might remember we had a problem with this last year.

ESPN's early Bowl projections were put together by Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman, both predicting a bowl for Michigan. Schlabach's got us in the Champs Sport Bowl and Feldman's got us in teh PapaJohns' Bowl.
Look, they do remember there's a rivalry. - The Rivalry, Esq. points out what's on Michigan's tackling dummies.

Hokie runningback Darren Evans blows out a knee. Unfortunately this means he will be unable to run your ass over in 2009. He is, however, taking applications for 2010. This sucks. Evans is one of those backs that is way too much fun to watch.
Our homies at Roll 'Bama Roll dug up this AMAZING collection of Historic Alabama Game Program covers from Alabama game programs from 1927 to 1993. This is a must see for any college football fan.
Dr. Saturday's got all the SI covers for you to peruse. They are, how shall I say this... lame.

Wisconsin's 2009 Fooball Poster is out. "Alright everyone, stare intently into the camera! Except you. You... look afraid and bewildered. Thaaaaaaaaat's it." /Click/
Dr. Saturday tries to figure out "who is the legit favorite in the Big Ten?" Hell if I know. But if I was betting, I've still got OSU by a wide margin over Penn State. Those Offensive line and receiver questions are just too big a deal to overlook on offense.
The Quad Countdown: No. 21 Notre Dame - Not buying it.
Michigan Basketball
Fluff on the new strength and conditioning coach of the men's and women's basketball teams and golf team. Pssst. He's from Ohio.
