On Tap: Your Friday Drinking Instructions

New, comments

We love beer. It's just a fact. Beer is mankind's greatest creation, and yes, I'm counting the wheel, the Saturn V and the DVR. Beer just makes everything better. Along those lines, we hope that you are celebrating American Craft Beer Week with us. As usual I waited 'till the last minute to get my ACBW cards done, so sorry folks, you'll be getting yours a little late. I also have to give a shout out to David Bardallis of Ann Arbor dot Com and his Column "This Week in Beer: All the Brews Fit to Pint". You, sir, are a Patriot and a scholar. Though the hat makes you look like a dirty hippie. Never mind. You like beer, so we cool.

It's been a strange spring and early summer here in Chicago, so it actually feels like a Fall day. Bizarre, I know. It may also feel like a fall day because I've been watching and re-watching every snap Denard Robinson took in the Michigan Spring Game. Just a thought. But because of the damp, cool weather combined with a cloudy overcast and the potential for an unseasonably chilly evening, I figure we could all use a little something that sticks to your ribs. You Friday Drinking Instructions: The Three Floyds Brewery Robert the Bruce Scottish Style Ale

Sounds good, don't it? It reminds me, in a way, of the AC/DC song "Whole Lotta Rosie". She ain't exactly Pretty. She ain't exactly small. 6.5% ABV 30 IBUs. You could say she's got it alllllllllll!

There are few things on this Earth that makes me happier than a full bodied, flavorful beer. And that's what we're selecting this week. This is not a beer you drink down quickly, it's a beer you savor. Just like Rosie, it's something you hide from your friends (but for different reasons) and keep coming back for even though you know it'll cost you (about $10 a six pack [Damn, son!]). But it's worth it.

So go forth, my minions, and imbibe. As always, report back when you've had your fill.
