Want some national championship bling, try eBay - Hard to believe it, but there are/were FOUR different college football national championship rings up for sale in the last week, including the 1997 Michigan NC ring that went for $5,250 on Tuesday. The others include: a 1975 Oklahoma Sooners National Championship ring (Yours for $2,999 or best offer); a 1985 UCLA Bruins Rose Bowl championship ring (Yours for $1,499 or best offer); and a 1990 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets National Championship players ring (Yours for $2,999 or best offer).
I know that there are reasons to sell a ring. Those reasons usually always involve money. But wouldn't it be better just to go on a crime spree and still be able to keep your ring? Tech's administration did not need to verbalize its opinion about its raw deal. Tech got hosed, plain and simple. Beebe knew it. The fans knew it. And as we found out last week, Tommy Tuberville knew it, too. In an interview with recruiting website Rivals.com, Texas Tech's first-year football coach frankly stated that a 10-team league lacks staying power, not because it is too small to hold a conference championship game, but because of the way it was duct taped back together. "I don't think this conference will last long because there is too much disparity between all the teams," he said.
