Stuff You Should Read Right Now

Special Congratulations to Brad at Maize and Blue Nation on the Arrival of His First Child - Congratulations to Brad and his wife on the arrival of a healthy and substantial 8 pound 12 ounce baby boy and future Michigan Lineman. Try to get some sleep at some point Brad. Ha! Who am I kidding. Congrats man. Go Blue.

Former Michigan receiver Steve Breaston finds beauty in words, giving back to community - Steve Breaston and David Merritt remain two of the coolest dudes ever to don a Michigan jersey.

Want some national championship bling, try eBay - Hard to believe it, but there are/were FOUR different college football national championship rings up for sale in the last week, including the 1997 Michigan NC ring that went for $5,250 on Tuesday. The others include: a 1975 Oklahoma Sooners National Championship ring (Yours for $2,999 or best offer); a 1985 UCLA Bruins Rose Bowl championship ring (Yours for $1,499 or best offer); and a 1990 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets National Championship players ring (Yours for $2,999 or best offer).

I know that there are reasons to sell a ring. Those reasons usually always involve money. But wouldn't it be better just to go on a crime spree and still be able to keep your ring? I have to say, I'm curious to know whose rings those were. Are they being sold by the players or pissed off ex-wives who got them in the divorce? These things just create more questions, don't they?

WHERE WE COME FROM: TAILGATING TRADITIONS - Every Day Should Be Saturday - I need to tailgate at a Florida game.

Michigan Football

Mike Martin U-M's best of the best on defense - File under "duh." But worth a read if you can get behind the paywall.

Michigan Football YouTube Bracket: Spectacular Plays 2 vs. 7 - Ace at The Wolverine Blog continues his You Tube Countdown with a couple of incredibles. I remember both of these as if I was still there. In particular I was there for Jason Avant's one handed catch. These are just classics to watch.

Michigan Football YouTube Bracket: Spectacular Plays 3 vs. 6 - More from Ace. The Marquis Walker one hander is still amazing.

College Football

Linehan: Beebe should have let Tuberville slide - God, I love watching the Big XII implode.

Tech's administration did not need to verbalize its opinion about its raw deal. Tech got hosed, plain and simple. Beebe knew it. The fans knew it. And as we found out last week, Tommy Tuberville knew it, too. In an interview with recruiting website Rivals.com, Texas Tech's first-year football coach frankly stated that a 10-team league lacks staying power, not because it is too small to hold a conference championship game, but because of the way it was duct taped back together. "I don't think this conference will last long because there is too much disparity between all the teams," he said.

Henderson released from USC commitment, on the open market - Seantrel Henderson is now free to infect other programs. If you court him, wear protection.

Damon Evans resigns as Georgia AD, to get 3 months salary - I know he's walking away with $100K in hand, but this poor guy just destroyed his career and his marriage. Whenever something like this happens, man, it sucks.

Mark Richt and the Damon Evans fallout - Look. I'm a big fan of the Orlando Sentinel's CFB Blog, but this Mark Ritch is on the hot seat BS has got to stop. The man is one of the best coaches in the SEC and seems to be doing things the right way. Stop linking Finebaum, for that matter stop reading him. He's making you stupider. Want proof? You're saying a guy who has gone 90-27 with two SEC championships in nine seasons is on the hot seat.

Evans out at Georgia; bring on the obligatory Richt 'hot seat' chatter - The Doc tears into the Ritch hot seat nonsense.

Georgia appoints interim athletic director, no timetable for search - With the dismissal of Damon Evans the Georgia program will take its time figuring out who will replace him.

FULMER CUPDATE: DAMON EVANS EATS THE EVIDENCE - There is at least one funny thing to come out of the Evans screwup tho... LSUFreek at his very, very best.

Michigan Basketball

Michigan Basketball Recruiting: Where Things Stand (Pre-July ‘10) - Things aren't going as well as we'd like for Michigan's basketball recruiting.

Adidas Invitational: Day 1 | UM Hoops.com - UM Hoops takes in the Adidas Invitational and gives us the lowdown on a number of Michigan hoops targets.

BGSU men's basketball will play in Nov. at Michigan - Read: we need to schedule someone not named Kansas.
