Stuff You Must Read Right Now

Michigan Falls to Illinois 54-52 - UMHoops has a great recap.  A pair of bricked shots with seconds left doom the Wolverines at Assembly Hall, but honestly, Michigan had a great second half and showed some awesome fight.  This game was closer than most thought it would be, and while a loss is a loss (hurting M's postseason chances) it's encouraging moving forward.  This makes the Wisconsin game an absolute must-win.

ChicagoNow has Michigan NIT Bound - This is before the Illinois loss, but someone who actually cares about the NIT has Michigan as a 2-seed in the NIT.  As a fringe NCAA bubble team, this sounds about right - and any postseason experience will significant help these young Wolverines.

In-State Recruiting Battle in Focus - Genuinely Sarcastic provides us with a great look at the battle between Michigan and MSU for in-state football dominance.  I'd encourage you to read the rest of the series as well.

The rest of the things YOU MUST KNOW after the jump.

Michigan Football

Gerald Ford is Awesome - Yes, we already knew that.  But now it's in film form.  I'm going to check this sucker out, and so should you.  The guy ended up doing pretty well with that Michigan education, so I hear.  Hope the weather's always sunny up there, Mr. President.  (From DetNews dot com)

The Man is a Machine - More good stuff from Hoke, who gave a brief interview before Mock Rock.  Sounds like his staff has a specific goal in mind, and I for one welcome the focus on in-state recruiting.  That said, I wouldn't say no to Florida ninjas too. (From DetNews dot com)

More Recruiting  - Sam Webb looks at the recruiting battle for an Ohio defensive end/LB hybrid.  Did Michigan's entire defense play with bare hands last year or something?

College Football

The Fiesta Bowl Smells Fishy - A probe looks into some improper contributions in the Fiesta Bowl.  Hey, NCAA!  Go look at the Sugar Bowl!  Oh, wait, you helped keep the tattooed Buckeyes on the field in the first place...

Michigan Basketball

A Look at Walk-Ons - Michigan's had some good success with walk-ons the last few years, with Jordan Kovacs on the football side and C.J Lee playing roundball.  Who's next in the line of impact diamonds in the rough?

Why They Lost: Missed Shots (surprise, surprise) - Mets Maize with a much, much more detailed summary than I was willing to give.  Long story short, we missed a bunch of 3's again.  Oh, wait, and we lost by 2?  Argh.

Michigan Hockey

Michigan holds Mock Rock - The hockey team put on a wildly successful Mock Rock appearance the other night, spoofing many and taking jabs at even more.  Good recap by MHNet.

Introducing a new segment here at Happy Hour:

From the File: A Look Back at Something, Anything

Rich Rodriguez is Awesome - A classic look at how quickly things can change.  For the record, I still believe he's awesome, just not "Michigan-awesome."  Who cares if that makes sense or not?

Incredibly Important YouTube Clip of the Moment:

Today - a Double Feature!  Mock Rock!

But your winners are, of course, the insatiably good Michigan Marching Band!  (I'm such a homer)

Until next time, Michigan Faithful.  Cheers!
