Site Update

Sorry for the long spaces between content. Been a busy week already. I know I did this a year ago, but if you're interested in contributing to the site, shoot me an email at maizenbrewdave at gmail dot com. I can't promise you're going to publishing op-eds on the front page, but I can tell you I'll find some way for you to contribute. Let me know.

Michigan Football Adds Two More Recruits

Ohio defensive end Chris Wormley commits to Michigan football team - One more Defensive End from Ohio. This brings Michigan's haul up to 21 players before the season has even started.

Chris Wormley, Wolverine - Touch the Banner breaks down Wormley's game and is wondering where and how Wormley will make an impact. I think TTB is like the rest of us, hoping for a monster Senior Year out of Wormley to silence any critics and to show that the kid belongs at a high major program. The spread on his rankings is pretty wide (3* to 4* depending on the service).

New Blue: Chris Wormley - The Wolverine Blog evaluated Wormley as well. They like him, but also wonder about his motor.

Hoke Has His Fullback - Michigan's 2013 class picked up the commitment of Sione Houma from Utah last week. The big bruiser runs well, catches well, and is used as a part time bulldozer on construction sites. The consensus seems to be he needs to add 20 pounds, but if he does.... whoa baby....

Michigan Basketball Recruiting Goes Nuts Too (Austin Hatch update included)

New Blue: Derrick Walton - Michigan picks up another top 100 swing man for the 2013 class. This kid can shoot the lights out and get to the rack. Huge get for Beilein.

Derrick Walton to Michigan - UMHoops.com breaks down the newest member of Michigan's 2013 Basketball recruiting class. Walton is the second 2013 commitment that the Wolverines have landed in as many days. Walton is a consensus top 100 recruit and is ranked is ranked 88th by Rivals.com, 77th by Scout.com and 92nd by ESPN.com. Dylan looks at his game and provides some video.

More after the Jump.....

Michigan basketball team adds Zak Irvin to 2013 recruiting class - Yet another of Beilein's recruiting coups. Irvin is another top 100 recruit out of Indiana who will play wing for Michigan. This further proves that John Beilein loves kids named "Zak" or "Zach" or "Zack"

UMHoops gives you a full Irvin wrap up - Ice in his veins. good mid-range shot. Needs to work on his handle. Irvin and Walton join Austin Hatch and Mark Donnal in the 2013 class.

Speaking of Austin Hatch - UM Hoops talks about the slow progress Hatch is making. His story remains one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever read. His teammates sure as hell miss him.

Michigan Hockey Recruiting Picks Up a Defenseman

2013 commit Michael Downing didn’t take long to pick Michigan - The 6’3, 175 pound blue liner was being recruited by several top programs in the CCHA and WCHA and saw his recruitment with the Wolverines take off after a strong showing at the USA Hockey Select 16 Festival in June. Then he met with Red Berenson and the deal was done. This kid is really, really good, BTW.
