Michigan has yet to secure to the commitment of Laquon Treadwell and is still pursuing a select few 2013 prospects, but we'll get to them later in the post. We'll also fill you in on more news from The Opening and dive even deeper into the class of 2014.
The Opening Never Closes
We covered the vast majority of news to come out of this super camp last week but more has come out since.
Rivals tells us what they learned from the camp. Laquon Treadwell is mentioned as a player who could receive that coveted fifth star.
Tremendous interviewed Jourdan Lewis after his stellar performance, and he's confident that he'll be playing corner and not receiver at the next level. He also thinks Treadwell is Michigan's to lose. Tremendous also managed to talk to David Dawson, who thinks that Michigan has a real chance with Derrick Green. If you've been wondering why Dawson couldn't be seen in any of the padded reps in the ESPN videos it's because of rules put in place by the MHSAA. Said rules should be changed to make it easier for players from the state of Michigan to develop and compete.
Michigan commitment Taco Charlton has seen his stock move up on Scout and down on Rivals, leaving many to wonder how two different respected scouting companies could have such differing opinions on him. Answer: they're actually mostly in agreement. Scout had him as a high three-star recruit and bumped him up into the four-star range while Rivals saw the camp and realized that he's too raw for his current ranking. I'd expect him to fall toward the bottom or just outside of the Rivals 250 while keeping his fourth star. In short Charlton is still fresh on the defensive line and until he learns proper technique he'll just be a gifted athlete playing WDE. His high ceiling is what's keeping him afloat.
Finally, FOX Sports has this video and many more available from The Opening:
2013 News Not Related to The Opening
Defensive end Wyatt Teller of Bealeton, Virginia is still interested in Michigan and plans on visiting before making a decision. Virginia and Virginia Tech are the favorites here but if he makes it to campus Michigan will have its chance to woo him away.
2014 Still Picking Up Steam
Four-star receiver Derek Kief visited Michigan this past week and from all reports liked what he saw. He's raw but standing at 6'4" he's another one of those tall playmakers that Borges covets. Expect Michigan to be a major player for him.
Five-star running back Bo Scarbrough has four finalists, none of which are Michigan. This shouldn't come as a surprise.
Here are highlights of presumed Michigan lean Damon Webb playing for Detroit's Maximum Exposure squad:
His offer sheet is already respectable but expect it to be a mile long by this time next year.
Big Day At the Big House BBQ?
David Dawson recently had this to say:

Does that mean another commitment is forthcoming? Probably not, but recruits have tipped the hands of others before so who knows. If Treadwell dropped no one would be surprised but there are always others who could make a splash.
2014 recruits in attendance include but are not limited to: OL Jamarco Jones, OL Nathaniel Devers, LB Clifton Garrett, LB Michael Ferns, and WR Austin Roberts.
Rankings, Rankings, Rankings
Scout updated their list of the top 300 2013 prospects following Nike's camp, giving Charlton his fourth star as previously stated. ESPN has also updated their top 300, with Shane Morris and Jake Butt both making moves up the rankings. Morris was the only top QB not to fall while Butt was the biggest mover, all the way up to #171.
247 Sports has also updated their rankings, giving Morris his fifth star. They have also has released their 2014 rankings if you're looking to get an extreme fix of recruiting rankings. Skim through the list you'll notice that you already recognize many of Michigan's early targets, mostly because the staff already has the luxury of legitimately recruiting the class.
And to end this post with a positive vibe I give you this:
After the #ESPN150 updates, Michigan currently has 13 prospects ranked in the top 10 at their position: es.pn/mQQGgb— Tom VanHaaren (@TomVH) July 12, 2012
That's the stuff.
