Copp, Compher and Motte named to Preliminary USA World Junior Championship Roster

New, comment

Sophomore Forward Andrew Copp and Freshmen Forwards Tyler Motte and J.T. Compher have been named to the preliminary roster for the United States' World Junior Championships this Dec.-Jan., could miss GLI

USA Hockey released the preliminary 2013-14 WJC roster, naming 3 underclassmen Wolverines to the roster. Andrew Copp and J.T. Compher are virtual locks to make the squad, with Motte having a good to decent shot of being named to the team. Of the 26 players selected on this penultimate roster, 23 will make the trip to Malmo, Sweeden over the Holiday break to help the USA defend its Gold Medal from last year's tournament.

There is one evaluation camp to go, in Minneapolis December 15-18, for head coach Don Lucia to make the final decision on the roster.

Unfortunately for Michigan, being named to the final squad would rule them out for the GLI, but the World Junior Championships are a special showcase for young talent. Every USA game is broadcast on the NHL Network. If you get the chance, do not miss any USA-Canada game. They have been extremely entertaining.
