Michigan will no longer belong to the Legends Division of the Big Ten starting in 2014, according to an ESPN report.
The conference is switching to two divisions divided by geography—East and West.
U-M will belong to the Big Ten East alongside Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, and Rutgers.
Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, and Wisconsin will make up the Big Ten West.
"Big Ten presidents and chancellors are expected to approve the divisions and division names, along with a move to a nine-game conference schedule beginning in the 2016 season," ESPN wrote on Friday. "The presidents and chancellors are expected to vote next week, a league source told ESPN.com."
In the newest version of alignment, U-M fans get their wish with rivals Ohio State and Michigan State remaining on Michigan’s schedule for the forseeable future.
