There Are 109 Days to Michigan Football

Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

In the post-Jim Harbaugh days of Michigan football, team 109 struggled with an identity. Were they a flashy, loose team, or a hard-driving brute? Jamie Morris straddled the middle. They didn't have a gunslinger of a quarterback, but Morris won them games. His final year on the team, he had 1703 rushing yards and a 234 yard day against Alabama in Michigan's bowl game after a disappointing Big Ten season.
