There Are 106 Days to Michigan Football

Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

Bo Schembechler's team 106 was the only to not have a winning record in his 22 seasons. The lone bright spot came in the first game of the season. Jim Harbaugh was a freshman quarterback, and managed to lead Michigan to an upset over the number one Miami Hurricanes. In true manball form, Bob Perryman, the fullback, was the only Michigan player to score any touchdowns. He got three TDs and a field goal was added in the fourth quarter.

Did I mention Miami was the defending national champion?
