Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

Michigan has had a collection of multi-sport athletes or even multi-position athletes. Don Dufek was part of team 97 but didn't stop his athletic exploits at Michigan Stadium. To add to his three earned letters in football, Dufek was picked as an All-American in football and then played around the corner of State and Hoover at Yost Ice Arena. He earned four letters for the hockey team.
