There Are 93 Days to Michigan Football

Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

Michigan was three seasons into Bo Schembechler's career when team 93 began the campaign for a conference championship. They annihilated the Big Ten field -- three shutouts, and two consecutive games of scoring 60 points or more. Including this game against Iowa:

I think even I could go out and win a football game if that was the speech given to me.

Team 93 won the Big Ten to give Schembechler his first conference title.
