This is it, the beginning of the Bo Schembechler era at Michigan. He took over a program that had fallen into the middle or worse of the Big Ten, and flipped it on its head. Team 91 made it to the Rose Bowl, after the famed upset of number one Ohio State, and tied for the conference title. The most notable of the team's players was Ohio native Jim Mandich, Schembechler's first All-American and team captain. Oh how far Michigan has come, from an age of the tight end being king to a quarterback with dreads stealing our hearts.

Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler.
