Chalmers "Bump" Elliott was Michigan's wedge coach -- placed between Bo Schembechler and Bennie Oosterbaan. Whereas most coaches in similar positions usually don't endure much success, Elliott succeeded both as a player, coach, and administrator. Leaving Schembechler 11 All-Americans but only one conference title, Elliott was part of Michigan's 1947 national title, and earned the admiration of his successors as coach. Team 90 closed out his career with a winning record and the foundation from which Schembechler built modern Michigan.
