The New York Yankees drafted Michigan junior centerfielder Michael O’Neill in the third round of the Major League Baseball draft on Friday.
The Yankees made the pick official when it used the 103rd overall pick on O’Neill, who is the nephew of former Yankee Paul O’Neill.
Ryan LaMarre, who was drafted in 2010, was the last Michigan baseball player to be drafted as high as O’Neill, as LaMarre was selected by the Cincinatti Reds in the second round.
