Michigan running Fitzgerald Toussaint did not earn Doak Walker Award preseason watch list honors Thursday – the award presented to the nation’s premier running back by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound tailback suffered a season-ending injury against Iowa on Nov. 17 in 2012. He has recorded 325 rushing attempts, 1,642 yards and 15 touchdowns at Michigan. Despite his injuries, the Michigan coaching staff believes he will return as starter this fall.
The award announces the winner on the Home Depot College Football Awards show Dec. 12 on ESPN.
Former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball won the award in 2012.
