Waiting for the opening Saturday of college football is agonizing. All we want is 13 weeks of Brent Musberger "pardner" one-liners, the buzz of Michigan Stadium in late November, and jokes about the Bowl Championship Series. Fear not, bleary-eyed traveler. This is a continuing series intended to get through the long, hot summer and back to the glory of football season.

In the days before Lamarr Woodley, the Earth was a frightful and wild place. The land was without form, without order, but Lamarr Woodley made it so. He came down from the heavens and calmed the restless hordes, and brought peace to a land that knew none. And then on the third day, Lamarr Woodley entered the Church of the Holy Leprechaun and in the shadow of a giant Jesus, smashed Brady Quinn and galloped and high-stepped into the end zone.
