There Are Shoelace Days to Michigan Football

Sixteen days. That's all that remains until opening Saturday in Ann Arbor. All the off season hi jinx, NCAA tomfoolery, hit pieces, scandals, and replays of painful losses will just float away come sunrise on that day. Michigan Stadium has sat dormant for too long, the sidelines empty, clamoring for the rumble of band, team and fans. Our countdown series continues down the home stretch, honoring the players and games of Michigan lore.

Michigan will never again see a talent on the same level as Denard Robinson. The speed of a Jaguar (pun intended), and that smile, as grand and bright as Michigan Stadium. No one knew who this kid with untied shoes was, and his first college snap was a botched one that became a touchdown, somehow. Then the magic compounded, and snowballed, and blossomed into a human highlight reel. Even with one working arm, Denard managed to collide with two Ohio State defenders last season, and kept going until he was in the endzone.

There's not much else to say besides, "We love you, Denard."
