Michigan up to 11th in AP Poll; 12th in Coaches Poll

Michigan's big win over the Irish Saturday night move them just outside the top ten.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan started the week 17th while Notre Dame was 14th, but the results of Saturday's game were enough to move Michigan up six spots and Notre Dame down seven.

Alabama and Oregon remain 1 and 2 respectively, and Clemson jumps the Buckeyes for third place. Northwestern (17), Wisconsin (20), and Nebraska (23) are the other Big Ten representatives in this week's poll.

Michigan State is inexplicably receiving votes, likely because every voter switched to a different game when the offense took the field. Illinois (!) and Penn State are also receiving votes.

Update: Michigan comes in 12th in the Coaches Poll, proving for at least one more week that the AP poll is better based entirely on who ranks Michigan higher.
