Trent Baalke, Jim Harbaugh recently clashed that "irreparably tore at the trust" between head coach and GM according to CSN Bay Area

It has been speculated that San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh will not return to the team next season. According to one local Bay Area reporter, a recent clash all but guaranteed that fact.

Jim Harbaugh may not be roaming the sidelines in San Francisco for much longer.

That has been the speculation ever since both sides were not able to reach a contract extension during the offseason. Although Harbaugh has been extremely successful during his tenure with the Niners, it has been wildly reported that Harbaugh and Niners general manager, Trent Baalke, relationship has soured and tensions are mounting.

While it appeared that the relationship between the two could be worked out, that ship has apparently  sailed quickly this season. In a Tuesday FAQ regarding the Harbaugh situation, CSN Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco says that one person familiar with the situation has informed him that a incident or series of interactions occurred that "irreparably tore at the trust" between a head coach and general manager.

"It's no secret Harbaugh can be a difficult personality," Mariocco said in his What's the Problem? section of his FAQ. "One source told CSNBayArea.com that general manager Trent Baalke and Harbaugh have clashed on occasion, but it never escalated into a situation in which either man felt as if he could not work with the other. But that changed a couple weeks ago when an undisclosed incident or series of interactions occurred that irreparably tore at the trust that must exist between a coach and general manager."

The events that took place in the disagreement were not disclosed by Mariocco's source.

Earlier Wednesday, Vegas oddsmakers listed Harbaugh as 2/1 favorites for the Michigan head coaching position.
