Friday Michigan Football Recruiting Roundup Has a Familiar Face

FRR updates you on the very latest regarding Michigan football recruiting. Is a familiar face returning for a visit? Four-star offensive lineman target talks Michigan interest. That and more.

Former Michigan Commit to Visit

A familiar face is planning on taking a visit to campus next weekend to partake in Michigan's "junior day" event. The main attraction will be the basketball game against Michigan State at the Crisler Center on Sunday Feb. 23. 2015 five-star running back and former commit, Damien Harris, will be making an appearance on campus according to 247Sports' Steve Lorenz, who broke the news late Wednesday last night.

Harris is coming off a recent visit to Ohio State where he saw the Buckeye basketball team lose to Michigan 70-60 Tuesday night. This will be his first visit to Ann Arbor since the Notre Dame game last year.

It goes without saying that getting Harris back on campus is a fairly big deal for Michigan in their pursuit to get the coveted RB back on board. It gives the chance for Harris and his family to speak to the coaching staff about any issues they may have regarding the new offensive philosophies Doug Nussmeier is bringing with him from Alabama.

I do believe Michigan still has a chance in securing a commitment from Harris. According to his mother on the day of his decommitment, Michigan is still his number one school. Only time will tell if that statement holds true or not.

Four-star Jenkins Talks Michigan Interest

Offensive lineman and major Michigan target, Sterling Jenkinsspoke with our very own Eric Rutter yesterday about his recruitment process and interest in Michigan. He is widely considered the number one prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and 247Sports lists him as a top-ten talent in the nation at his position. Jenkins is undoubtedly a prospect that Michigan does not want to miss out on.

According to Jenkins, it appears that he has already formed decent relationships with some of the players already.

"Chase Winovich, he goes to Thomas Jefferson. He reached out to me and I went over to his house. Then before I was even into Michigan I met with linebacker Michael Ferns when we were in Chicago together. That was a good starting point. Then the barbecue was when I met all the guys and that was really cool."

Things are looking good for Michigan as of right now on the Jenkins front, but this one is far from over. I expect schools like Ohio State and hometown Penn State to be in this until the end. Landing Jenkins would solidify a nice 2015 offensive line class that already has legacy commit Jon Runyan Jr. on board.

General Odds and Ends

2015 Wide Receiver Juval Mollette, who holds a Michigan offer, has named Michigan to his early top 10 list.

247Sports' Steve Wiltfong has a great feature (free) on 2015 linebacker Josh Barajas and his family. Barajas currently holds offers from the Wolverines, Illinois and Purdue. Although that number will surely rise in the coming weeks. Eric also spoke with Barajas recently to discuss his Michigan offer and the likelihood of an early commitment.

Eric continues to update the growing list of visitors who plan on visiting campus this weekend.
