Forty More Minutes: Michigan 73 - Tennessee 71

Michigan jumped out to a big lead and needed all of it in a nailbiter. The Wolverines have booked their second straight ticket to the Elite Eight.

Michigan couldn't do any wrong for much of the first three quarters of the game.  With just under ten minutes left Michigan was still up double digits and rolling offensively.  Over the last 10 minutes of gametime Michigan scored just 13 points and allowed Tennessee to pull within one shot of the win.

Early on Michigan's offense overwhelmed.  The Wolverines scored 45 points in the first half and did it with five players scoring seven or more.  Glenn Robinson III was active, attacking the basket and hitting from outside while Caris LeVert and Nik Stauskas did their usual thing and Michigan looked nearly unstoppable.

After the break Michigan's offense hummed along for ten minutes before struggling down the stretch as Tennessee put together a strong run to finish the game.  Tennessee got the lead under five with less than two remaining and forced uncharacteristic mistakes to pull the game closer.

Jordan Morgan led the Wolverines with 15 points and Michgian's wing trio all scored 10+ in the game.  Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton both added nine points.

It wasn't a pretty win down the stretch, but Michigan caught a couple breaks and gets to move on.  Forty more minutes of watching this team.

Let's hope they win forty more on Sunday.

Michigan will play in the Elite Eight on Sunday against the winner of Louisville-Kentucky.
