The 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker is from Lawrence Central High school in Indianapolis.
Kirkland is ranked as the fifth-best inside linebacker in this class and is the number two prospect coming out of his home state according 247 Composite rankings.
He had a bevy of offers, about 26 in total, that include schools from across the nation. Penn State was arguably the biggest contender but fell out of favor after receiving two inside linebacker commits in their 2015 class.
Kirkland is the seventh commit of the 2015 class which includes recent new member, quarterback Alex Malzone.
