2014-15 Big Ten Hockey Schedule Announced; Michigan Plays First Weekend

New, 2 comments

Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, and Ohio State will kick off the B1G season on November 20-22.

The Big Ten has announced the schedule for the 2014-2015 hockey season, hooray! Check out the full schedule here.

A couple things to note: Sunday games are dumb, but tolerable. Thursday games are downright stupid and need to be burned beyond recognition, but there are seven chances to see Thursday games next season. Hey, Thursday games, I fart in your general direction! Also important to note is the fact that Michigan will kick off the conference season against Penn State on November 21. Yep! Michigan gets to open against the team that knocked them out of the Big Ten Tournament; don't forget that Penn State got all of their conference wins against Michigan, too.

Michigan State will also take part in the opening weekend and will take on Ohio State at Valu City Arena in Columbus on either November 20 or 21.

December 5 will see all six Big Ten teams in action, with Ohio State visiting the Wolverines, Minnesota traveling to East Lansing, and Penn State taking on defending tournament champs Wisconsin in Madison.

Although Michigan starts things off at the end of November, they will not have another conference game until hosting regular season champion Minnesota in January. After that layoff, the Wolverines will have ten consecutive weeks of conference match-ups that end with Senior Night against Michigan State on March 14.

The conference season will end with the second Big Ten Tournament that will take place at Joe Louis Arena from March 19 to March 21.
